Let me be upfront about buying 'name brand' clothing and footwear..... I do not believe it means a better product. Bigger names usually mean inflated prices for the same quality as a bargain brand. It was that mentality that I found these sneakers. This particular pair of shoes were about half the price of Columbia's typical price point so I found them at a competitive price with the bargain lines.I needed a comfortable, casual shoe for working in an office environment so the look and price fit my needs. So many athletic shoes are made with bright (offensive) colors, high-gloss accents, or over-sized logos that I feel embarrassed wearing them. I took a chance on these shoes as I have never bought Columbia products in the past.I'll admit it.... I love these dang shoes. They aren't excessively boring like I usually have to settle for, ALL the coloring (black/grey) is subtle and matte finish, and the logo is minimally applied. The shoe says 'classy' without trying to make a statement about branding or price.Nobody has to know that I bought these shoes for less than $50 (it was a gift card for Xmas) but I feel awfully good about this purchase!I am not going to start paying the usual inflated prices for this manufacturer (or others like them) but if those manufacturers want to bring their prices in line with the majority of the average consumer's budget....... well, I will gladly find another treasure like this one.
